1. First determine whether it’s a node issue or a local environment issue
Free nodes are shared by many users, so they can indeed become temporarily unavailable, have high latency, or be restricted by the target website. But don’t start by repeatedly reinstalling the client—it’s better to do some basic checks first.
- In clients such as Clash, sing-box, v2rayN, and Shadowrocket, switch between 2–3 nodes under the same subscription to test.
- Make sure your system time is correct. If the time is too far off, some protocol handshakes may fail.
- Close and reopen the proxy client, then update the subscription again to avoid using outdated configurations.
- Test on a different network, such as switching from Wi-Fi to a mobile hotspot, to see whether the current broadband connection is being restricted.
